I Want to Donate When I Pass Away - National Kidney Registry - Facilitating Living Donor Transplants
I’m considering donating my kidney.
I want to donate when I pass away.
Welcome! Based on your situation, you are considering donating your kidney
to someone facing kidney failure when you pass away. The most effective way to
make this happen is to visit your local Department of Motor Vehicles office
and have them indicate on your driver’s license that you want to be an
organ donor. After your license has been updated, carry it with you.
You can also carry an Organ and Tissue Donor Card.
You can obtain a Donor Card online.
Just fill out the card and carry it with you.
In addition, some states have registries to facilitate organ donation.
to determine if your state has such a registry.
Finally, make sure that your wish to donate your organs when you pass away
is known to your family and friends.
Another consideration is LifeSharers. If you would like your organs to
be offered first to other LifeSharers registered organ donors,
please check out www.Lifesharers.org.
