We are pleased to report that we facilitated a record-setting 46 transplants in December of 205, bringing us to 360 transplants for the year. Our results represent a growth rate of 16% over the 310 transplants we completed in 2014. We ended the year at 1,593 transplants facilitated since we began operations in 2008. Our goal for 2016 is to continue our current growth rate and facilitate 420 transplants. In achieving this goal, we would surpass the 2,000 transplant milestone by the end of the year.
Quarterly Reports
3rd Quarter 2015
We are pleased to report that we facilitated 82 transplants in the third quarter. Our strong third quarter performance allowed us to pass the 1,500 transplant milestone midway through October. Our goal is to accelerate our growth so that we may surpass the 2,000 transplant milestone by the end of next year.
2nd Quarter 2015
We are pleased to report that we facilitated 2017 transplants in the first half of 2017, up 11% over the 186 transplants completed in the first half of last year.
1st Quarter 2015
We are pleased to report that the NKR facilitated 90 transplants in the first quarter of this year, up 12% over the 80 transplants facilitated in the prior quarter. We set a new record of 38 KPD transplants in March. Not only was March the largest month in NKR's history, but we also ended our longest chain on March 26th. This chain, involving 70 people, is being featured on Nightline.
4th Quarter 2014
We facilitated 310 transplants in 2014, up slightly over the 308 transplants facilitated in 2013. Growth slowed in 2014 due primarily to stagnation in new pair enrollment.
3rd Quarter 2014
We are pleased to report that 86 transplants were facilitated this past quarter. Our Q3 results were up 8% over the same quarter last year. These results reflect an improvement in matching success with the critical “cross match to transplant” success rate increasing from 27% to 42%, quarter over quarter.
2nd Quarter 2014
Due to an unusually high number of swap failures, our Q2 transplants totaled 57, down from 87 in Q1 of 2014. 144 transplants were facilitated in the first half of 2014, which is flat compared to the 144 transplants facilitated in the first half of 2013. The high rate of swap failures in the second quarter has created a backlog of match opportunities which appears to be driving a surge of transplants into Q3.
1st Quarter 2014
We are pleased to report that we facilitated 87 transplants in Q1 and completed our 1000th transplant on March 12th at the University of Cincinnati Hospital. Our first quarter results were up 38% over Q1 2013 and based on the OPTN reported KPD numbers for 2013, NKR facilitated 52% of all paired exchange transplants in the United States last year.
4th Quarter 2013
Our 2013 results showed continued rapid growth with 308 transplants facilitated during the year--a 36% increase over the 226 transplants facilitated in 2012. This brings us to 923 transplants completed since we started organizing swaps in 2008. Our short term goal is to facilitate 400+ transplants in 2014 while we move closer to the 1,000 to 2,000 annual living donor transplants that we believe can be made possible in the United States through our Paired Exchange program.
3rd Quarter 2013
Our third quarter results were strong and put us on track to facilitate 299 transplants for the year which is a 33% increase over the 226 transplants facilitated last year. Our third quarter performance brings us to 838 transplants since we started organizing swaps in 2008.
